The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America next month, according to palace sources.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a reception ahead of the climate summit, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The royal pair were participating in the museum gathering, marking an rare public appearance together at a environmental conference preliminary meeting co-hosted by the British authorities.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be hosted in Rio preceding the COP summit.

Royal sources have described Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an crucial position in "global climate discussions".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were welcomed guests including conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.

This participation included speaking alongside President Emmanuel Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

The UN meeting will coincide with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the day before he joins the COP summit on November 6th.
